Adèle Exarchopoulos talks about her role in Zero Fu**s Given
Cassandra (26) is a flight attendant for a low-cost airline. Based in Lanzarote, she’s always willing to take on extra hours and carries out her duties with robotic efficiency. On the side, she just goes with the flow and floats between Tinder, parties and lazy days. When she suddenly gets dismissed, she is forced to return home. Will Cassandre find the force to confront what she was running away from?

"Adèle Exarchopoulos was the vessel of all the stewardesses stories" J. Lecoustre & E. Marre
"Cassandre, 26, is a flight attendant for a low-cost airline. By fully embracing her flight-to-flight and party-after-party lifestyle, she stays faithful to her Tinder username ""Carpe Diem"". An unattached existence by the means of forging ahead without care is apparently fulfilling to her, until a mishap forces her to reconnect with the world. Will Cassandre be able to confront her buried pain and return to those she has left on the ground?
–
From the start, Zero Fucks Given grabs us with its colours, its scenes that combine improvisation and meticulous reconstitution, and its ambivalent rhythm, as it portrays the daily existence – varying from violence to boredom – of a young flight attendant working for a low-cost airline. Emmanuel Marre and Julie Lecoustre depict the absurd and inhumane professional environment in which Adèle Exarchopoulos embodies, with gravity and irreverence, the existential wanderings of a young woman in flight."

"The circulation between Western and Eastern art is almost in my genes” Olivier Assayas
Left incomplete in Tokyo... Between fiction and reality, a fake spy story, but a true story of time difference.
–
Olivier Assayas' first financed film, Laissé inachevé à Tokyo defends the idea of a different, hybrid kind of filmmaking. Radical in its staging, experimental in its structure, we could believe we’re watching a film noir or a B-movie. Thanks to this magnificently restored version, we are surprised to find ourselves strolling through a black-and-white version of Tokyo, entirely reconstructed in the studio. For the 40th anniversary of the release of the film, dive back into this spy movie that preceded Olivier Assayas’ unique and rich cinematography.

"Maurice Pialat will always be a part of my life, and of my family" Sandrine Bonnaire
Fifteen-year-old Suzanne comes to the bitter realisation that it is easier to find sex than love. Fleeing family problems, she racks up sexual experiences, often changing partners, loving none of them, until she meets Jacques.
–
When Sandrine Bonnaire accompanied her sister to a casting call, she was discovered by Maurice Pialat, who decided to dedicate a film to her years later: To Our Loves. The young actress plays Suzanne, a 15-year-old teen who discovers her own desires and tries to master them. The audience gets swept up by her insolence and energy, and then finds themselves thrown into the private life of her family, the father of which is played by Maurice Pialat himself. On the 40th anniversary of the film’s release, rediscover this cinematic masterpiece in which, between scripted text and improvisation, the actress is the queen from whom emerges the truth.

"I wondered about what a microwave would do to testicles. Did they explode?"Jean-Christophe Meurisse
"At the same time in different parts of France, a retired couple drowning in debt tries to win a rock contest, a minister is suspected of tax fraud, and a young teenage girl meets a sex maniac. It’s going to be a long night. The dogs have been unleashed.
–
In his second feature film, Jean-Christophe Meurisse crosses genres and examines the monsters of contemporary society in a scathing, dark comedy. An irreverent, freewheeling satire on the mechanisms of power."

"Humor is the best way to take a step back to think about our society" F. Crespy & L.de Montalembert
"Nicky, a non-conformist, eccentric woman, decides to end it all after losing her remaining welfare benefits. She entrusts her dog Izy to her neighbor, but when she brings him back, a race against time begins as Nicky overdoses. She has only one solution: entrust Izy to Jacques, an employee for Paris' welfare system, who has come to check in on Nicky for the first time.
–
In a film that is part drama, part wacky comedy, Faustine Crespy and Laetitia de Montalembert explore the issue of access to welfare benefits and the insider knowledge required to obtain them. With fantastic performances by its two actors (and a dog!), this film poetically evokes the fringes of society and wins us over with its unique tone and sense of humour."

"It's an explosive subject to talk about a child's sexuality" Samuel Theis
"Johnny is 10 years old, but is only interested in adult affairs. He is a curious onlooker to his mother’s turbulent love life in their social housing estate in Lorraine. This year at school, he is in Mr Adamski’s class. The young teacher believes in Johnny and helps him push open the doors to a whole new world.
–
Softie invites us to follow Johnny and see through his eyes as he finds in his new teacher an opportunity to change the course of his otherwise insipid life. We watch, touched, as his freedom develops through ambiguity and shame, and then finally flourishes. After Party Girl, Samuel Theis returns to the town of Forbach to bring us a sweet, poetic film with a resolutely political perspective on the moments that define the pre-teen years."

"I immediately believed in Souheila Yacoub and Déborah Lukumuena" Anaïs Volpé
Dreaming, falling, starting over. Margot and Alma are two best friends holding on to the energy of their youth and their burning desire to conquer the world, until life gets in the way. But their ride-or-die friendship can get them through anything; they are inseparable, unstoppable.
–
Paris of today, night-time. The Braves is the portrait of two friends who dream of becoming actors. We are swept up in their whirlwind adventure, sharing their passion for theatre, their joys and hard knocks, and before we know it, it seems only natural that we would want to be by their sides when life gets in the way. A generous second feature film carried by the incandescent energy of Déborah Lukumuena and Souheila Yacoub.

"It's a film about love and precarity today, in Paris." Louda Ben Salah Cazanas
"Labidi is a young man of today: he goes from petty scams to odd jobs, shares a tiny room with a flatmate, and dreams of being a writer. But when he meets Elisa, he is forced to rethink his lifestyle and stop living beyond his means.
–
A sensitive, melancholic first film starring two irresistible actors (Aurélien Gabrielli and Louise Chevillotte), in which director Louda Ben Salah-Cazanas depicts an aspiring writer whose precarious lifestyle reveals the state of emergency endured by an entire generation."

"It’s the story of a girl who tries to forget her ex lover by taking various shortcuts." Lila Pinell
"Shana is looking for a job, she needs cash to leave France and her bad crowd. But the past she’s looking to forget is never far. Besides, does she really want to put it behind her?
–
In 2007, Lila Pinell met 10-year-old Eva Huault while shooting a documentary. The director and young actress reunite 15 years later in King David. The 16mm image and medium framing splendidly capture this vibrant, captivating actress portraying a young woman trying to leave her former life behind and start over in California."

"I've always dreamed of working with Isabelle Huppert" Laurent Larivière
"Joan Verra has always been independent, in love, free-spirited, and adventurous. When her first love unexpectedly comes back into her life after years of absence, she decides not to tell him that they have a son. This unspoken truth gives her the opportunity to look back at her life: her youth in Ireland, her successful career, her loves, and her relationship with her son. A full life in appearance, but one that hides a secret she will eventually have to face…
–
In this novel-like second feature film, Laurent Larivière takes the audience through three different periods of time. Freya Mavor and Isabelle Huppert share the remarkable role of Joan. Bright and spirited, they show us the necessity and the healing power of fiction."

"I find interesting when a love story is over and one doesn't realize it yet" Céline Baril
"The punk avant-garde was almost prophetic with the expression 'No Future'" Vincent Maël Cardona
A small provincial town at the beginning of the 80’s. Phillipe lives in the shadow of his brother, Jerome, the bad boy of the group. Between pirate radio, their father’s garage and the threat of military service, they are unaware that they are living the last moments of a world on the verge of disappearing.
-
The birth of independent radio stations, a left-wing government in power, and the start of the 1980's provide the backdrop for the lives of two brothers who want to change the world. Thanks to its audacious directing, remarkable use of sound, and the acting talent of Timothée Robart, this first feature film accurately portrays the complexity of its era, from political disillusionment to the liberating energy of rock’n’roll.

"We din’t talk much about the Indigenous issues in the Canadian media" Caroline Monnet
"Mani, a master’s student, returns to the region north of Quebec where she grew up. Her painful past resurfaces. Determined to make a place for herself, she enters the debate over a referendum on the free sale of alcohol. Laura, a bootlegger, pockets her profits under the protection of the group council and her husband, Raymond, who still holds her responsible for their daughter’s death in a fire. Two radically opposed women rapidly divide the community into two clans who find themselves face-to-face trying to determine the best path towards independence.
–
From a contemporary art background, Caroline Monnet directs her first feature film that examines the relationship between prohibition and contraband in a community in Nord-du-Québec and questions the need of communities to take back the power to govern themselves. A sensitive film in which professional and amateur actors enter a dialogue, with the gorgeous landscape shown in all its splendour by the director’s photography."

"All the stories I tell revolve around stolen intimacy." Dorothée Sebbagh
"In Malmousque, a former fishermen's district in Marseilles, new residents and bathers from all over the city mix. Virginie wanders the streets looking for her cat, while Elina is convinced that her husband has put spyware on her cell phone. The two friends go kayaking so they can talk to each other without the risk of being overheard.
–
Dorothée Sebbagh brings us a set of vignettes woven together to depict a unique area of Marseilles. Funny, profoundly human, and upbeat, Malmousque is a true summer’s tale about friendship and the beauty of emotion, in which the audience takes their time, like the characters in the film, to observe, be touched, and wander."

"It's a film about exile, about people who are forced to leave their homes." Florence Miailhe
"A small village looted in darkness, a family forced to flee...
The two oldest children, Kyona and Adriel are quickly separated from their parents facing the road of exile alone. They embark on a heroic journey which takes them from childhood to adolescence in search of shelter, peace and the hope of finding refuge and their family. Crossing a continent torn apart by war and migrant persecution, these courageous siblings survive incredible challenges, before reaching a new world, free at last.
–
Dedicated to “all those who, one day or another, leave their homeland in the hope of finding a better future somewhere else,” The Crossing is also an homage from the director to her own mother and grandmother, forced to leave Odessa in 1905 to flee the pogroms. A film comprised of striking, animated paintings with universal qualities that speak of exile and the road from childhood to adolescence."

"I wanted to question children's violence" Simon Helloco
"His determination to go back to remand center overwhelmed me" Marthe Sébille
"What does it mean to wash in a lake in 2023?" Julien Gaspar Oliveri
"Marianne is heroine of the day and a young journalist has come to do a feature on her. The interview triggers evasive reactions and misunderstandings, yet a fleeting, tenuous, human connection takes place.
–
In this commissioned work that is part of a collection of short films on female heroism, Marianne portrays the impossible encounter between a female journalist and a woman who rescued children. Set in the strange and eerie Vosges mountains, this is the story of one woman’s refusal to be considered a heroine, and of the sensationalism of current affairs."

"It’s most of all a portrait of a young man who is fragile, who has flaws and doubts" Leyla Bouzid
" Ahmed, 18, French of Algerian origin, grew up in the suburbs of Paris. At university, he meets Farah, a young Tunisian girl, full of energy, who has just arrived in Paris. While discovering a collection of sensual and erotic Arab literature he never imagined existed, Ahmed falls head over heels in love with Farah, and although literally overwhelmed with desire, he will try to resist it.
–
A true lesson on love, A Tale of Love and Desire is above all the sensitive story of Ahmed’s sensual awakening. This enchanting second feature film features brilliant performances by young acting duo Zbeida Belhajamor and Sami Outalbali. Leyla Bouzid brings all our senses into fusion to bring us a delicate coming-of-age story that masterfully redefines the words of its title in all of their inherent duality."

"The Acadians were the first climate refugees recorded in America" S. Matteau & G. Fournier
"The Acadians were the first climate refugees recorded in America" Samuel Matteau & Guillaume Fournier, directors of 'Belle River'"2019. Spring flooding in Mississippi hits record highs. In Louisiana, the residents of Pierre-Part are preparing for the worst. Barring an unexpected turn of events, local authorities will soon be forced to open the floodgates of the Morganza Spillway, in order to save the cities of New-Orleans and Bâton-Rouge from further uncontrolled flooding. Faith and resilience are the two best weapons they still have in the face of uncertainty.
–
Part III of a documentary trilogy set in Louisiana, Belle River evokes the consequences of climate change in this American state. Guillaume Fournier, Samuel Matteau, and Yannick Nolin direct a striking documentary in which the protagonists speak with dignity of their attachment to the land, to nature, and to their culture, faced with the threat of American hegemony and political inaction with regard to climate challenges."
